Dr. Zhao (Chairman, founder and CTO)

The company’s founder, Dr. Zhao Yi, received his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Xi’an Jiaotong University. In 1994, under the guidance of Academician Lu Bingheng, he began researching and developing photopolymer 3D printing technology, developing China’s first laser-polymer 3D printer, which won the second prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award. While teaching at Shanghai Jiaotong University, he proposed the concept of “3D digital manufacturing.” In 2001, he founded UnionTech. After the establishment of Shuzao Technology in 2004, it successfully developed and industrialized white light 3D scanners and laser human body scanners, for which it won the second prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Invention Award and the first prize of the National Education and Teaching Achievement Award.
